The San Miguel Park is the result of the efforts made by the city to promote urban deconcentration and pedestrian accessibility in the last quarter of the 20th century. An attempt was made to offset the growth trend towards the south, raising residential sectors in other directions.
The Ebro took on a new role as a green axis, complemented by other parks, such as La Grajera. The industry was redirected to the most suitable area, the east, replacing it with housing in the old industrial estates. The next challenges were overcoming the barriers formed by the railroad and the Ebro, with the underground of the station and the residential growth on the left bank.
One of the latest improvements to the park has been the installation of a butterfly oasis in 2021, located next to the sculpture of a butterfly found in the duck pond.
