WHAT IS LOGROÑO

Logroño is an open, diverse and hospitable city that combines tradition and modernity; identity and heritage, with different spaces, historic buildings, and centres for art and scientific dissemination.

Logroño is a crossroads, where the French, Ebro and Ignatian Camino de Santiago pathways meet. The difficulty here is only in choosing which route to follow. All you need to do is fill your rucksack, because as the popular saying goes, "with bread and wine you walk the road".

Logroño is also a green city that invites you to explore its natural spaces at any time of the year; it is one of the cities in Spain with the most green areas per inhabitant, a fact that is both a source of pride and a source of well-being. Crossing its centenary bridges, walking through its parks and enjoying it on a bicycle are experiences that the city offers us in all its seasons.

A WHOLE DAY IN THE CRADLE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE

We suggest a unique cultural visit: The Monasteries in San Millán de la Cogolla, World Heritage Site and Cradle of Castilian Spanish. In the Monastery of Suso, the oldest, located between the mountains, the hermits of the Middle Ages wrote the first words in Spanish and Basque in their SCRIPTORIUM. The Monastery of Yuso houses a large and unique library.

We recommend a visit to Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Be sure to visit the Cathedral where you can see the tomb of the saint and a chicken coop inside the church itself!!! Ask about the miracle of the rooster and the hen and you will find out why.

Our nature

Enjoy nature and discover the rural surroundings of La Rioja. La Rioja has a touch of the Mediterranean, bringing warmth to its vineyards, a bit of alpine that crowns its mountains, and an arid land that creates lunar landscapes.

But above all, there is one key element: WATER. Seven rivers are born in the region, decorating it with diverse landscapes. The Ebro River flows calmly through the area, inviting you to follow its course. At every step, you’ll enter a new world without leaving this land.

An unparalleled natural environment

With its vast vineyards watered by the Ebro River, the city is the gateway to a natural environment best exemplified by the La Grajera Park, showcasing the area’s great diversity and interest. Close to this park is the Logroño golf course, an 18-hole course and one of the best in northern Spain.
